2 years minimum Endoscopy experience. Performs special endoscopic/interventional procedures in accordance with procedures, protocols, and quality control standards as established by the department and the Medical Center and governing and credentialing organizations. Provides patient care during procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (R.N.). Prepares and is responsible for the proper programming of specialized equipment, i.e., custom ultrasonic unit. Prepares the procedure table and tray, including but not limited to, scopes, and kits for invasive special pr! ocedures. Correlates patient clinical history with examination! performed; reviews previous studies and investigates discrepancies as necessary. Ensures patient safety, provides patient comfort, and instructs patients during examination/procedure. Ensures necessary safety measures, particularly radiation safety, are provided in accordance with radiation safety and health standards during procedures utilizing radiology. Prioritizes and coordinates patient procedures with nursing units, CTS and physicians to maximize service and utilization time. Performs patient care duties and/or treatment based on specific needs, including but not limited to age, medical condition, and/or developmental status per M.D. or R.N. direction. One (1) year experience as an Endoscopic Procedure Technician, preferably in a comparable medical center; or, one (1) year experience providing direct patient care, such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, etc., and demonstrated ability to perform duties and responsibilities of job. Knowledge of automated systems ! preferred. Experience in cleaning and disinfection of instruments/scopes preferred. Basic knowledge of aseptic technique. Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. High school diploma or equivalent education. Current certification in BLS/HCP. Successful completion of the SGNA GI Technician Specialist course preferred. Active Tech HI state license. ST62.
