Duties Summary:
The Registered Nurse V-General Duty typically serves as a House Supervisor and is responsible for supervising nursing care and treatment services for all patient care units and coordinating hospital-wide services on an assigned shift. This involves respo! nsibility for planning and providing nurse care and treatment ! services on an assigned shift; coordinating support services to meet hospital staffing and patient care needs and insure timely and efficient patient flow; making decisions on patient care issues in the absence of the nurse manager and/or higher level supervisor; participating in the development, revision, and implementation of nursing programs, policies, and procedures; and perform other related duties as assigned.
In certain instances where the area covered by a general hospital is extensive, positions in this class may manage out-patient clinics established in remote areas.
The immediate vacancies require the incumbent to conduct on-site licensing and Medicare certification surveys of health care facilities throughout the State to ensure their compliance with federal and state requirements and safeguard the health and safety of patients and residents.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify, you must meet all of the followi! ng requirements:
License: Applicants must possess a valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Hawaii.

Experience: Two and one-half years of professional nursing experience.
One year of the Experience must have been comparable to the Registered Nurse IV level as a supervisor of nurses responsible for all patient care, management activities with an assigned ward, floor or clinical area.
The Registered Nurse IV-General Duty supervises and participates in the provision of skilled nursing services. The responsibility involves determining the priorities of patient care needs and planning, assigning, reviewing and evaluating the work of subordinate nursing personnel, in addition to planning and providing nursing care and treatm! ent services.
The positions will also be responsible for plann! ing and implementing in-service training programs for nurses and nursing assistants; serve as clinical specialist, providing direct service in complex nursing situations; and demonstrate to the nursing staff new techniques and methods of patient care.
Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants at this level must have demonstrated possession of supervisory aptitude.
Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
