This position is located in the Combat Systems Division, Engineering and Planning Department, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. The incumbent will furnish complete engineering designs and estimating services for the technical accuracy and timely execution and resolutions of problems involving cognizant nuclear interface and non-nuclear systems equipment and components related to the fields of combat systems and electronic engineering. As an Engineering Technician, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Performing and preparing engineering instructions and procedures required to execute projects on combat systems equipment.
  • Ensuring combat engineering specifications describe the material, operating parameters, and special requirements to permit competitive bidding.
  • Repairing ships at operational working sites for combat engineering work.
  • Establishing operational parameters such as voltage, amperage, signal-to-noise ratios, etc. for engineering projects.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing combat systems and electrical components. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowl! edge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: P erforming electrical and electronic engineering work required to execute engineering projects on electronics and ordnance systems; pre! paring guidance for conducting installation or operational tests on ord! nance systems; coordinating or directing ordnance systems testing to support an engineering project and shipÂ's force; and troubleshooting or repairing ordnance systems.

OR 2 full years of graduate education or a MasterÂ's degree directly related to the position being filled.

OR a combination of post high school education and specialized experience that equates to one year of experience.

For the GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

The work requires regular and recurring visits to shipyard resource shops, projects, and performance of shipchecks. Shop visits and shipchecks normally consist entirely of per! iods of walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting. A portion of! these shipchecks is performed during the ship's deployments and around operating machinery.

Waterfront work requires regular shipboard visits, which will require the applicant to be exposed to discomforts such as excessive heat, high atenna platforms, dirty equipment, and machinery spaces and high noise levels. Sea Trail conditions are hot, noisy, dirty, generally nauseous, sleepless, and require long hours.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
