POSITION SUMMARY: The BHS Unit Manager is responsible for direct supervision of the activities of nursing and ancillary personnel in the multidisciplinary team utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion. Provides for care of patients on the unit through appropriate delegation and supervision of staff assignments based on competencies/skills and scope of practice. Plans, organizes and implements services to meet the specific needs of clients as designated in their treatment plans. Assists the Director to ensure operational efficiency including but not limited to, fiscal, information systems, performance improvement, human resources and regulatory management. Responsible for maintaining and improving the standards of care, utilizing the Professional Practice Model. Serves as a role model and mentor for others. Using leadership skill! s, and the nursing process, the Manager strives to meet the ne! eds of the patient/significant other in a safe/caring, professional manner; will provide for the well-being of patients through patient advocacy, education and effective/collegial communication with physicians, other departments, and staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

MINIMUM FIELD-OF-EXPERTISE: 2 years experience in an inpatient psychiatric care. Possesses strong leadership skills demonstrating excellence in interpersonal skills to efficiently run a complex nursing unit, promote, and develop team building; leadership ability, demonstrating excellence in interpersonal relationships.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/REGISTARTION: CPMR training and quarterly competency assessments BLS-Healthcare Provider - biennially. Valid Hawaii driver's license in good standing. Psychiatric Nursing Certification within 1 year of hire

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as manager ! in a behavioral health setting. 5 or more years experience in an inpatient psychiatric care setting. Experience in developing and/or implementing quality improvement measures.
