• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Certification - BLS - Heartsaver
• Basic computer knowledge/skill in Microsoft Windows

POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Safety Attendant, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for providing continual observation to patients who are confused, at risk for causing injury to themselves or others, or exhibit behavior that is unpredictable or difficult to manage. Responsible for data collection related to safety checks assigned patient(s) of different age groups and using age related interventions. MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to understand, speak, read, and write clearly and effectively in the English Language. A high regard for the dignity and worth of patients and families. MINIMUM FIELD-OF-EXPERTISE: Verbal skills, hearing, sight and manual dexterity required. Must be comfortable working with a diverse population and communicate with compassion. Demonstrated ability to listen, interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and visitors. Competent in the reporting of a patient’s behavior to the RN so that interventions may be implemented in a timely manner. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: BLS-Heartsaver - biennially. CPMR certification. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience: Acute hospital or clinical experience. Clerical background and knowledge, medical terminology.
